An Asian man strangled his long-term friend and colleague at a farm in Jubail before traveling to Jeddah in an attempt to flee the country. According to police, the murder was motivated out of greed after the victim had managed to save through work some two thousand Riyals, leading to the murderer, named Ashraf, to lure him to a secluded spot on the farm and strangling him to death with a piece of thick cloth. The murderer then returned to his room and slept, but a companion discovered what had happened and advised Ashraf to flee to Jeddah and leave the country. Police in Eastern Province learnt of the event and passed on their information to police in Jeddah who, after a detailed search, detained Ashraf.
