Students of Al-Laith Educational College for Girls have complained that they have not received their educational stipends for five months and that they have received no explanation for the failure of the authorities to pay them. Furthermore, they have pointed out that they depend on their stipends to buy books and to pay the rent on their apartments. Mohammad Bin Meqdam, father of one of the students, thinks that the delay in paying the stipends is also affecting the school transportation because students pay for their transportation with the stipends they receive from the college. Abdullah Al-Mandili, another father, said: “We are tired of receiving promises that the money will be paid. These promises are not worth the ink that was used to write them.” While the students claim that they have not received their stipends for more than five months, sources in the college have said that students are being paid normally.
