Dr. Peter Salima, Director of the Asia and Pacific branch of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) - Technical Cooperation Program- has commended King Abdulaziz University (KAU) for the efforts it exerted to successfully organize the GCC International Symposium on Peaceful Nuclear Technology Applications from 5-7 November 2008, under the auspices of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The symposium was well-prepared and there was a high level of organization that contributed to the achievement of its objectives, Dr. Salima said. Prof. Abdullah Bin Omer Bafil, KAU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, has thanked Dr. Mohammed Al-Jihni, Head Department of Nuclear Engineering at the KAU Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Mansour Al-Mazroui, Head Department of Meteorology at the KAU Faculty of Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture, for their strenuous efforts to make the symposium a success by making the necessary arrangements and preparations. Dr. Al-Mazroui is an associate fellow in the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, UK which is one of the world's leading institutions concerned with the study of natural and anthropogenic climate change.
