Retief Goosen is sporting a new look at a tournament he has never played. After an 8-under 64 in the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Friday, he's hopeful of seeing some old results. Goosen hit a 3-iron to 8 feet for an eagle on the second hole at Pebble Beach, then picked up even more momentum by holing a 70-foot chip on the par-3 fifth green for birdie. With short birdies on two of the last four holes, he was at 12-under 132 and had a two-shot lead over Dustin Johnson. Goosen is wearing prescription sunglasses for the first time in his career, and the belly putter he tried out last week in San Diego is starting to take hold. “I'd like to turn my game around and play better,” said Goosen. Mike Weir of Canada had a steady round of 69 at Pebble Beach and was among those at 8-under 136, while the highest-ranked players continue to occupy the bottom part of the leaderboard. British Open and US PGA champion Padraig Harrington had a 73 at Pebble Beach as the breeze strengthened but the skies remained surprisingly clear, leaving him at 3-over 147 and in serious jeopardy of missing the cut. Also at 3 over was Vijay Singh, who had a 75 at Pebble Beach. Wie shoots to top In Hawaii, Michelle Wie put herself into contention for her first US LPGA Tour victory by shooting a 2-under 70 in difficult conditions in the second round of the season-opening SBS Open on Friday. Making her debut as a US LPGA card-carrying member, Wie used a three-birdie run to surge to the top of the leaderboard with an 8-under 136, with the afternoon groups still on the course. She also closed the first round with three consecutive birdies. First-round leader Angela Stanford was also at 8 under through six holes. Angela Park (68) was at 7 under, two shots ahead of Japan's Momoko Ueda (71) and rookie of the year Yani Tseng, who was 1 over through nine holes. The 19-year-old Wie was seeking her first title in her 49th start on the US LPGA Tour. She's also looking to put her past struggles behind her. Blyth ahead in Malaysia Australian Adam Blyth on Saturday snatched a one-shot lead after the third round of the Malaysian Open, the event where he made his professional debut in 2005. Blyth produced a superb six-under-par 66 to lead from Chinese star Liang Wen-chong, who carded a 67, and Sweden's Alexander Noren who returned a 69. The final round promises to be a thriller with a jam-packed leaderboard at Saujana Golf and Country Club. Thai star Prayad Marksaeng (65), American Anthony Kang (64) and England's Miles Tunnicliff (63) are two shots off the pace, while overnight leader Danny Chia of Malaysia is a further stroke behind after a 74 to lie alongside India's Shiv Kapur, who shot a 66. Lee leads in Australia South Korean Lee Chang-hee held a strong international field at bay Saturday to retain the lead going into the final round of the Australian Women's Open at The Metropolitan. Lee, 20, overcame an uncertain start which produced a bogey on her opening hole to snare the outright lead by one shot. She slipped to a two-over-par 75 but a birdie at the 15th ensured she remained alone at five-under 214. Americans Alison Walshe, a rookie playing in her second pro event, swept up the leaderboard into second spot with a four-under 69, alongside her compatriot Beth Allen (73-69-73). Australia's former world number one Karrie Webb lost further ground with a 75 to be in a tie for fourth with young compatriot Emma Bennett, South Korean Choi He-yong and Spaniard Tania Elosegui.
