Hazm became the first team to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the Crown Prince Cup after edging Najran 1-0 in Al-Rass on Friday. Ahmed Minawer sealed the victory for the home team in the 32nd minute after he headed a long cross into Ali Al-Ameri's net. Al-Hazm reached the same stage in last year's competition after edging Al-Riyadh but it was eliminated by champion Al-Hilal after a 2-1 defeat. Al-Hazm will wait for Al-Riyadh and Al-Ittifaq decider on Sunday to meet in the quarterfinal. In all, 16 teams are participating in the competition including four teams from the first and second divisions. On Saturday, Al-Fateh plays Al-Ahli Jeddah while Al-Nasr hosts Al-Fayha in Riyadh. Al-Riyadh also host Al-Ittifaq, Al-Ansar plays Al-Wehdah in Madina while Abha hosts Al-Shabab. Defending Champion Al-Hilal and Ittihad will play their matches against Al-Watani and Al-Raed on Sunday after they requested to postpone their match for one day to ensure the participation of their international players who returned from North Korea on Thursday. Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad stay on top of the championship record with seven cups while Al-Ahli comes second with five. Al-Shabab won it three times and Al-Nasr twice while Al-Wehdah, Al-Ittifaq and Al-Riyadh had the honor once in their history. __
