The Board of Grievances has canceled a Shariah Health Committee decision to close the case against the runaway doctor Malkir Jan, an anesthetist. The Board of Grievances ordered repatriation of the doctor from India because of his medical error that caused a Saudi woman to be declared brain dead five years ago. The woman's condition deteriorated after she was given an overdose of anesthesia during her Caesarian section operation at King Khalid Hospital in Najran. Saleh Bin Ali Aal Dhaybah, Director of Media and Public Relations in Najran Health Affairs, said Musslih Gadah, the husband of the deceased lodged another complaint with the Minister of Health last year and it was referred by the ministry and seen by the Shariah Health Committee which summoned the doctor through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to appear before the committee. The case was referred to the Commission for Investigation and General Prosecution in Najran to carry out the necessary arrangements and procedures for the repatriation of the doctor in coordination with the police.
