Down the road to Deep South

A police officer directs the flow of traffic Friday morning from the exit point of Abha city into the Dhala'a mountain road that connects Abha with the deep south of the Kingdom. Expansion work on the mountain road started last year after 25 people were killed on Feb. 22 when a SAPTCO bus overturned on the road falling into a 300-meter deep ravine. A similar accident occurred two years ago claiming 25 lives. With its tourist attractions, visitors to Abha use the road to experience the valley area below. – Okaz photo by Abdurahman Al
