The Graphic Design Program at the college attracted a large number of visitors who were all appreciative of the imagination shown by students in their artworks. Capitalizing on the grand success achieved in five previous expos, the organizers were keen to showcase the students' talent and creativity The ‘36th Street' theme was chosen by 36 graduating Graphic Design students, representing the community they created during the past four years at Dar Al-Hekma. Every booth on the 36th street of the Graphic Design Expo showed diversity, uniqueness and creativity. Dr. Suhair H. Al-Qurashi, President of the college, said that the graphic design expo remains the first and only program of its kind in the Kingdom. “It is worth mentioning that the Graphic Design students are being offered jobs even before their graduation. They also won prizes in different competitions.” Alaa Bakri Koosa displayed her project about water shortage in Jeddah. “Jeddah is located on the coast of Red Sea. Still it suffers from the continuing water shortage,” she said. “We can't give solutions to overcome the crisis, but at least we can pinpoint the causes behind it,” she added. Amani Omar Othman displayed the project about ‘Arabs in the eyes of West.' She said there is a lack of positive portrayal of Arabs, which unfortunately creates a great misunderstanding. “My approach is to clarify this confusion through the use of illusion.” Basma Tariq Attar projected “Jeddah in My Eyes” photographs, by emphasizing the beauty of the city in her own way.
