A security man died and another injured when five men in a car opened fire on Drug Combat Department security men pursuing them, the Interior Ministry said late Wednesday. The security men were monitoring the car in Al-Khalidiya District in south Riyadh suspecting it to be transporting drugs. As the car was entering a house in the area, the occupants of the car started firing at the security patrol. Gunshots were also fired from inside the house. The security men returned the fire, controlled the situation and arrested the five culprits – three Saudis and two unidentified illegals. Three suspected drug peddlers were also injured in the shootout and moved to a hospital. A large quantity of qat was seized from the car. The raid on the house netted a big quantity of Captagon narcotic tablets and liquor.
