Bar, Makkah Mayor, recently launched the website for the first International Islamic competition for beautifying and preserving the heritage of Makkah. The competition aims to encourage the work of artists which reflects the holy city's Islamic and cultural heritage. Dr. Al-Bar, visited 13 different locations where the competition will take place. These locations are as follows: Category (1) Prize: SR30,000 a- Aladel-Prince Majed St. b-Alazezeyyah-King Khalid, St-King Khalid Bridge c- Alazezeyyah-King Abdul Aziz St. Category (2) Prize: SR25,000 a- Alshawqayyah- Third Expressway b- Algazzah – King Khalid St,King Khalid Bridge.Location No.1 c- Algazzah - King Khalid St.King Khalid Bridge. Location No.2 d- Algazzah- Robae Atloa St. Location No.2 e- Algazzah - Almasjid Alharam St. f- Algazzah- Robae Atloa St- Location No.1 Category (3) Prize: SR20,000 a- Algazzah- Almasjid Alharam St. Location No.1 b- Algazzah- Alhajoun St-.Location No.1 c- Algazzah- Alhajoun St- Location No.2 d- Algazzah - Alhajoun St. Location No.3 Dr. Ahmed Fairaq, head of the committee and other members explained the details of the project to Dr. Al-Bar. Fine artist Mr. Yasser Azhar was selected winner of the international Islamic competition logo. The consulting committee consists of Dr. Ahmed Fairaq, Dr. Hamza Bajodah, Dr. Mohammed Hilal, Taha Sabban, Yousef Jaha, Yaser Azhar. Eng Hisham Shaly and Seddiq Wasil. Saudi Gazette spoke to the committee coordinator, Seddiq Wasil who disclosed that the competition involves designing big wall paintings (Jedareyyat) to decorate Makkah city, based on cultural motifs, traditional crafts, Islamic heritage, humane sciences, plants, tapestry or Arabic calligraphy . The competition is open to Islamic artists from all over the world. The last date to receive the entries in the international competition is 20-5-1430H corresponding to 15-5-2009 The results will be declared by 15-6-1430 corresponding to 9-6-2009 and the committee will provide return tickets and accommodation to the prize winners.
