Los Angeles Galaxy have rejected AC Milan's “$10 million” offer for David Beckham, the Italian club's chief executive Adriano Galliani said on Saturday. The 33-year-old England midfielder is on loan at Milan until March 9 but has said he wants to stay with the Serie A team permanently. “We made an offer to Galaxy which they have not accepted,” Galliani told Sky television at Milan's home league game with Reggina. The Los Angeles Times claimed the offer was worth $10 million. “For now we are a long way apart but there is still a month to go,” he added without going into details about the offer. For technical reasons Beckham's loan is actually until June, meaning Milan can talk to Galaxy outside of the transfer window which closed last Monday. However, there is a written agreement that he goes back to the US in March. Galliani's comments seemed to confirm what Galaxy chief executive Tim Leiweke alluded to earlier, that a deal for Beckham will eventually be agreed, once the two sides come to a compromise. “We need to end the distractions, the circus and the zoo. If David ultimately is an asset for this team, we want him back,” Leiweke said. “If David ultimately has a hunger and a desire to come help us make the impact on the pitch that we wanted to make with him but haven't done yet, then he's an important member of this team and our intention is to bring him back.” Meanwhile, Galliani spoke once again of how delighted Milan is with Beckham's contribution to the team, which included two goals and two assists in his first five matches. “Beckham is well brought up, he carries his own bags, he cleans his own boots, he opens and closes the water bottle and hands it back rather than throwing it away. He's an old school type of play that I like very much.” Set for 108th England cap David Beckham was on Saturday handed the opportunity to win a record-equalling 108th cap for England when Fabio Capello named his squad to face Spain in a friendly international in Seville on Wednesday. The 33-year-old Beckham, currently enjoying a successful loan spell at AC Milan from Los Angeles Galaxy, needs just one more appearance to match Bobby Moore's best mark for an outfield player. West Ham striker Carlton Cole and Phil Jagielka, the Everton midfielder, are in line for their first caps after also being named in the squad.
