The Netherlands secured a spot in the final of the Punjab Gold Cup Hockey Tournament by beating New Zealand 4-1 in a group match Friday. The win gives the Netherlands 11 points from five round-robin matches in the four-nation tournament with one group round still to be played. New Zealand remains on two points and has no chance of reaching Monday's final. World and Olympic champion Germany beat India 4-2 to win its first game of the tournament and ensure the hosts have to draw their final game or depend on other results to reach the final. Tushar Khandekar gave India an 11th-minute lead but Jan Philipp equalized 2 minutes later. Germany hit the front in the 21st when Lin Kevin scored, and Moritz Furste converted the first penalty corner to give the Germans a 3-1 halftime lead. Germany captain Tobias Hauke scored from a pass by Oskar Deecke for a three-goal lead. India scored in the 64th through captain Sandeep Singh.
