Visiting Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Wednesday invited Saudi students to enroll in Turkish universities. “We would like to see Saudi students in our universities in Turkey,” Gul said during a visit to King Saud University where he was warded an honorary sash. On the occasion, a protocol was signed between the King Saud University, and the Scientific and Technological Research Council and Istanbul Technology University. Gul met with Minister of Higher Education Khalid Bin Muhammad Al-Anqari and praised King Saud University for having made significant contributions to the country. The Turkish president also visited the King Abdul Aziz Science and Technology Center. Gul embarked on a four-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to discuss the Middle East conflict and promote stronger economic ties between the two countries. On Wednesday morning, he addressed a meeting of the Turkish-Saudi Business Council here. “The Turkish banking system has braced strongly for the global financial crisis,” Gul told Saudi businesspeople. “You can trust in the Turkish banks.” The Turkish president said his country has built up a solid environment of economic confidence with sweeping reforms, giving each investor equal opportunity without making any discrimination between foreigners or nationals. Gul also called Turkish and Saudi businesspeople to boost mutual investments. __
