Haql enjoys a very strategic location. The governorate, located close to the Kingdom's northern border and administratively in the Tabuk region, overlooks Aqaba Bay, a strategic body of water connecting Saudi Arabia with Jordan to the north and Egypt to the west. The governorate, which has an overall area of 5,643 square km, has a port, Dhorrah, as well as five administrative centers. Haql's distinguished location makes it easy for visitors to have a glimpse of the neighboring states, and despite being a coastal city, it has a very low humidity level with fairly moderate temperatures in the summer. Due to its mountainous nature, particularly in the east and southeast areas, Haql witnesses snowfall in winter. Haql is also famous for its natural pools and coral reefs which make it a desired tourist destination as well as a spectacular winter resort. The governorate enjoys advanced health services and it has a good commercial life with local people working in the fishing and tourism industries and the water sports business.
