Police accompanied a group of allegedly illegal Indonesians from under the infamous Sitten Bridge in Kandarah District as they were marching toward their country's consulate, demanding immediate deportation Saturday night. The police guided the mass movement of the Indonesians toward their consulate, said Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman of the Jeddah Police. The Indonesian consulate in Jeddah should take full responsibility of its citizens, he said. But Passports Department buses were waiting for them at the Indonesian consulate to take them to the deportation center in preparation for their trip back home. Authorities are now scrutinizing their IDs and paperwork to verify their legal status in the Kingdom, he said. Their biometrics including fingerprints and eye-scans will be checked to make sure none of them is wanted in criminal cases before deportation, the official said.
