Saudi Gazette is easy to read, has a clean design and a crisp appearance. These were the comments of the international judges who evaluated the Saudi Gazette, which won the silver award in the printing category of the Dubai Print Awards 2008. The winners of the award, held under the patronage of Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were announced by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Printing and Publishing Group (PPG) here Tuesday. “There were 20 categories in the event and six international judges representing the London printing college, Heidelberg, and Fogra,” Tarek Jawharji, CEO of Color Lines Group, and Printing and Publishing Group Vice Chairman, told the Saudi Gazette. Commenting on the Saudi Gazette, he said: “It's a very specially designed newspaper.” The evaluation was based 40 percent on quality, 40 percent on finishing, 10 percent on creativity and 10 percent on innovation, he said. Jawharji said: “The newspapers which received an award have attained a very high standard of quality.” Quoting one of the judges, he said: “The quality of products submitted for the awards demonstrates the competitiveness of the GCC printing industry with other markets.”
