Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Naif Arab University for Security and Science (NAUSS) will host the 41st regular session of the Federation of Arab Universities in Riyadh on Sunday. “The King's patronage of this important session, to be attended by the heads of more than 160 Arab universities, is the embodiment of the attention and care given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the re-affirmation of the Kingdom's leading role in supporting joint Arab action on all its aspects and levels,” said Dr. Abdulaziz Saqr Al-Ghamdi, president of NAUSS. The conference aims to achieve a number of important goals highlighting closer cooperation between Arab universities and coordination of efforts among them on the one hand, and with the regional and international universities, institutions and organizations encouraging the establishment of research centers supporting scientific research, quality control of university education supporting and stimulating creativity and student activities in inter-Arab universities. The conference will study the creation of balanced, quantitative and qualitative changes in university education, in addition to the development of systems of graduate studies and research works in Arab universities. The importance of the conference is to discuss ways to develop higher education. It is held at a time when the overall evolution of the Arab system of university education is imperative to keep pace with the requirements of the times and challenges. It is expected that the total number of students enrolled in higher education in the Arab world in 2010 will surge to about six million. __
