The UK department of International Development and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Riyadh recognizing the common values and a desire to work more closely together in eliminating global poverty and promoting mutual investment. The MOU was signed by Mike Foster, UK Minister of International Development and Mohammad Ali, president of IDB in Riyadh Monday. This is the first time an MOU of this kind has been signed between the two groups symbolizing the “important role Arab and Islamic institudtions play in international development and the UK's desire to develop stronger partnerships with these organizations,” a press release stated. The joint declaration will operated within the framework of implementing basic health, mental and educational services including water and sanitation, working to fight global climate change and food security as well as the implementation of the Paris Declaration.
