Explosives were used in blowing up the car of a Saudi diplomat in Athens on Thursday. The Saudi diplomat, whose car was targeted, said the explosives were apparently planted under the car's seats when it was in a workshop for maintenance. The diplomat declined to be named. Hatim Idris, Director of Media Affairs at the Saudi Embasy in Athens, said the attacks are not new. The vehicles of foreign diplomats have of late been targeted in Athens, he said and cited the case of an explosion in the car of the Bosnian ambassador. An earlier report said two other cars belonging to the Saudi Embassy had been set on fire on two consecutive days.
