Angry workers of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) manhandled former Sindh chief minister Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rahim when he was leaving the Sindh Assembly building after taking oath as its member. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) staged a walk-out from the Sindh Assembly to protest Rahim's manhandling. As Rahim came out of the premises, a bunch of PPP workers swooped on him. One of them hit his head with his shoe. Others raised slogans against him. A woman activist later showed her pair of shoes that she used to strike the former chief minister. She said Rahim would again be thrashed whenever he would come to the Sindh Assembly to attend its sessions. The newly-elected Speaker, Nisar Khuhro, offered apology over the incident. Rahim later said the incident was pre-planned. He said the PPP has tried to take revenge from him for contesting the elections against its candidates. Rahim could not take oath as member of the Sindh Assembly when it held its first session for swearing in on Saturday because of intense slogan chanting by PPP workers in the galleries against him. He was then escorted by police to protect him from the angry activists. __
