An Indian driver of a fuel tanker was burned to death when the tanker caught fire during an unloading operation at a gas station near the vegetable market in Jubail at 2:30 A.M. Thursday. The man was seen running in flames as gas station workers used rags to put out the fire. But it was too late, as he was already dead. Firefighters evacuated a small near-by hotel as the flames from the burning tanker began to spread in the morning wind. The 32 guests were taken to safety. Three firefighting units were dispatched to contain the fire in a battle that continued until dawn. Initial investigations show that a short circuit in the tanker sparked the flames, said Col. Muhammad Al-Dossary, spokesman of the Civil Defense in the Eastern Province.
