Eijaz Ahmed of ITSO Greens and Saeed of Super Cricket Club played major roles in crafting victories for their respective teams in the Al-Hamrani Fuchs Cup cricket tournament here recently.
The event, sponsored by Al-Hamrani Fuchs, is organized by Riyadh Cricket Association. The matches are played at RCA grounds in Sulay area.
At RCA Ground 5 ITSO Green made light of Mehran Cricket Club by defeating it by nine wickets.
Opting to bat first Mehran Cricket Club could only score 155 runs. ITSO Greens reached the target for the loss of one wicket in 13.1 overs.
Mahran was jolted by some fine bowling by Imran Ahmed. He picked up four wickets as only Shahzad offered some resistance with a knock of 40 runs for Mehran.
ITSO Greens in reply was given a flying start by its openers Eijaz and Imran Ahmed. They put on a century partnership for the opening wicket. Eijaz made a blistering 84 (13 fours) off 43 balls, while Imran scored 55.
At KFSH Ground 1 Sialkot Cricket Club registered a convincing six-wicket win over KFSH Blues. The Blues scored 196 runs in 20 overs. Sialkot overhauled the total for the loss of four wickets.
Batting first KFSH Blues lost three quick wickets, but Faqar Ahmed and Nayeem Akbar played sensibly. Nayeem made 61 runs, while Faqar added 43. Naser Abbasi chipped in with 25 runs. Moazzam and Zahid took three and two wickets respectively for Sialkot.
Sialkot began the chase in style but lost the way in the middle when KFSH bowlers struck to take four wickets. Owais (72 runs) and Eijaz Raja (42 not out), however, played nicely to carry their team to a six-wicket victory. Nayeem Akbar picked up two wickets for KFSH Blues.
Al-Eid began their campaign in the tournment with a 41-run win over Friends Cricket Club.
Batting first Al-Eid scored 199-6 and then bundled Friends out for 158 runs.
Opener Saeed Taimur gave Al-Eid a flying start with his 74 runs (10 fours). Mohammad Owais (31) and Arshad Mahmood (33) later added valuable runs to Al-Eid total.
Friends started badly and never recovered before being bowled out for 158 runs. Saeed Taimur, Arshad, Owais and Ramazan took two wickets each for Al-Eid.
Super Cricket Club caused an upset beating SAMBA by 23 runs. Super made 219 in 20 overs and then bowled SAMBA out for 196. M. Shafeeq was in tremendous form as he scored 54. He was ably supported by Abed Meraj (34) and Rafeeq (31). Yoga, Faheem Shah, Asif Khan and Nusrat took one wicket each for SAMBA.
SAMBA lost early wickets. Only Kashif Khan Jr. applied himself to make a fine 82 (8 fours and 2 sixes). Bilal Qureishi tried to salvage the situation with his 25, but got little support from his teammates. SAMBA finally crumbled for 196 in 20 overs. Saeed Ahmed picked up 5-31 for Super.
