Permit a must for SMS donations RIYADH – The Ministry of Social Affairs has made it mandatory for charitable societies to obtain permits to raise donations electronically including the use of SMS messages. The decision is among several steps taken to guarantee the soundness of the collection of charitable donations through technology. Awad Al-Raddadi, the Undersecretary for Social Care and Development, said the ministry has formed a committee to organize and monitor donations received by charitable societies. The ministry has called on SMS service providers to make sure charitable societies have the proper permit.
