In Premier League games, Liverpool outplayed Newcastle 3-0 to move within two points of third place Chelsea, Reading climbed out of the relegation zone and up to 13th with a 2-0 victory over Manchester City and Blackburn was held 1-1 at home by next-to-last Fulham.
