Hekma College in Jeddah allocated half of the proceeds from the 6-day “Shopping Craze” (Junoon Al-Tasawwuq) Exhibition for the children of Gaza. Ahlam Muhammad Ballahmar, a demonstrator at the Management Information Systems Department, said 50 girls participated in the exhibition. The girls were divided into 10 groups – five girls in each group. Each group was delegated the task of innovating a marketable product or service. After agreeing on the idea, each group had to implement it or look for financiers or supporters for their project which was marketed within the college. She pointed out that the ideas that were marketed during the exhibition included chilled fresh fruit juices, photography using different backgrounds, printing text or pictures on shirts, bags, women's veils, abayas, etc.; baked and mashed potatoes, different recipes of macaroni, video games, cookies and cup cakes, chocolate fountain, and body care (massaging, care for nails and feet). She said the girls decided to allocate 50 percent of the proceeds from the exhibition as a donation for the impoverished children of Gaza Strip. The number of visitors to the exhibition, she said, exceeded 1,500 from within the college and outside despite the fact that the exhibition was held for the first time in the college. She thanked supporters and financiers for their role in making the exhibition a success.
