Oman and the Netherlands signed an agreement to encourage transnational investments in both nations. The agreement was signed by Mohammed Bin Nasser Al-Khusaibi, Secretary-General of the National Economy Ministry, and Frank Hemskerk, Foreign Trade Minister of the Netherlands and Prince Willem Alexander, Prince of Orange and Crown Prince of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The agreement aims at encouraging Omani and Dutch investors as part of a larger plan to promote trade and build a framework of increased trade between the two nations in addition to providing freedom of transfer of investment guarantees without any limitations, the Omani Daily reported. The agreement also protects the investments in both countries against expropriations unless for public purpose and against fair compensation. In case any disputes cannot reach a compromise, the disputes are referred to an international arbitrator, SPA reported.
