AC Milan put the Kaka transfer saga behind it to earn a vital 1-0 Serie A victory over Fiorentina at the San Siro on Saturday to keep its title hopes alive. Third-placed Milan began the day nine points behind leader Inter Milan but closed the gap to just six ahead of its bitter rivals' trip to Atalanta on Sunday. The build up to Milan's match had been dominated by Manchester City's reported 100-plus million euro bid for Kaka and Milan fans made their thoughts known before kick-off by unveiling a host of banners pleading with the Brazilian star to stay. Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti kept the former world player of the year in the starting side and handed ex-England skipper David Beckham a home debut. Milan had the lead through a sumptuous strike from Pato on seven minutes. AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi hinted earlier Saturday that he is in favor of the proposed transfer of Kaka to Manchester City. “Nothing is decided yet but it is very difficult to ask someone to stay and respect his contract when he has been offered such a huge amount of money,” said the Italian prime minister. “You have to act in a moral way, like a big brother, as I did with Sheva (Shevchenko). I didn't know how to say no to him when the offer came in from Chelsea ... We can't possibly increase the salaries for everyone as we would have to do to keep hold of Kaka.” Earlier, Siena beat second-from-bottom Reggina 1-0 to end a run of four consecutive league defeats thanks to substitute Mario Frick's 75th
