The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has allocated SR5 million as an urgent first payment to accommodate the families displaced in the Gaza Strip due to the brutal offensive being carried out by Israeli forces. Dr. Mohammed Bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, Chairman of the (WAMY) Committee for Relief in Gaza, said the amount will be allocated for the purchase of tents and blankets. According to reports from WAMY offices in the Strip, more than 10,000 homeless families are in dire need of urgent basic requirements, he said. WAMY was one of the first institutions to launch a relief campaign to extend assistance to Gaza in response to the call of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques by allocating SR3 million as first payment for the relief process. The relief campaign includes the shipment of crucial medical supplies and equipment as well as other necessities. A special delegation will travel to Egypt to supervise the implementation of relief project, Al-Ghamdi said. Dr. Ghamdi appealed to the citizens and residents in Saudi Arabia to come forward and donate more in order to ease the sufferings of their brothers and sisters in Gaza.
