The Administrative Court in Riyadh has given the Ministry of Health two weeks as a grace period to carry out the orders given to it to treat Muhammed Salhan Al-Subai abroad at the expense of the government. The judge gave the ultimatum last Tuesday in the presence of the ministry's lawyer. Nasser Al-Subai the patient's brother said his brother entered into an irreversible coma two years ago when his car overturned in Khafji pointing out that after the accident his brother suffered from a brain hemorrhage and concussion that affected the brain cells. He said they could not find a bed in any hospital which forced them to travel to China at their own expense to admit the injured man to a specialist hospital. However, they faced many difficulties as the office which signed the contract with the family did not fulfill its obligations, thus they raised the matter with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah, who ordered that the man be sent abroad for treatment. The ministry, Al-Subai said, did not carry out the order under the pretext that it had approached a hospital in the US but it had refused to admit his brother. He said that this was an unacceptable excuse because they should have looked for another hospital but this did not happen, adding that he had approached a hospital in Britain which agreed to admit his brother. Al-Subai said he had informed the ministry of the hospital's response but it turned a deaf ear and thus he was forced to sue the ministry in court which gave the ministry two weeks to execute the Royal order. He said his brother is now receiving treatment in a private hospital in Riyadh at the expense of the Crown Prince. On contacting Dr. Khaled Margalani the Ministry's Spokesman to clarify the matter, he said he needs to speak to the officials concerned for further details. Al-Subai is graced with a son and daughter and he was working for a private company in Riyadh.
