The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) organized campaign to collect relief materials for Gaza is in full swing. The campaign, started last week to collect donations at WAMY outlets and its headquarters on Sitteen Street in Jeddah, has so far collected donations worth SR3 million,” said Dr. Mohammed Bahdadah. Assistant Secretary General of WAMY in Jeddah. “The campaign is going on throughout the Kingdom. We have 20 outlets in Jeddah, 10 in Makkah and 10 in Taif, where citizens and residents can donate for their brothers and sisters in Gaza. The campaign will continue as long as our brothers in Gaza need the relief materials,” he said. The staff members of WAMY themselves donated their salaries to support the relief efforts. “This gesture from the staff showed their sympathy and solidarity with our brothers in Gaza who are facing torture and killing,” said Dr. Mohammed Bin Sayed Al-Ghamdi, chairman of the committee of the relief campaign. “In the first phase of the campaign almost SR3 million has been collected. Medical supplies worth SR2.5 million have already been sent to Gaza. A special delegation has also gone to Egypt to coordinate and facilitate distribution of the relief material,” he said At the moment, Al-Ghamdi said, “our brothers in Gaza need more medical supplies and food as the situation there has become serious and tragic. They also need blankets, power generators and winter clothes,” he said. WAMY prefers financial donations. “We prefer financial donations as we can purchase the goods from Egypt and ship them to Gaza because it costs less and it is easy to supply from there,” said Bahdadah.
