Khamis Mushayt Police on Thursday seized six tons of liquor in a distillery located in a farm outside the urban area. The distillery was producing 2,000 liters of “Araq” daily, according to the authorities. Col. Abdullah Al-Qarni, spokesperson of Asir Region Police, said several bootleggers were arrested at the distillery. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were carrying out their illegal act without the knowledge of the farm owner. Security authorities were tipped off on a number of customers frequenting the place. A raid at the place led to the seizure of distillery equipment and fermenting materials.
