The Ministry of Higher Education will start paying the 50 percent increased stipends for students studying abroad starting this month. The increase was recently ordered by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Dr. Abdullah Al-Mousa, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Higher Education, said the ministry has sent a circular to all the chancelleries abroad for payment of the increased stipends. Al-Mousa said King Abdullah's scholarship program for special education will be announced next month pointing out that 1,000 students will be enrolled in this program in three stages. Addressing students who were sent on post-graduate scholarships abroad in medicine, the education official said that 89 students out of 575 have chosen to enroll in local universities than studying abroad.
