The Jeddah Basketball League opened their 2008 winter Titan-JBL Invitational Basketball Tournament. Teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony held at the Bin Mahfouz basketball court here. JBL President Mohammad Rasheed Suyat and JBL Tournament Commissioner Joe dela Cerna with anchorman Nelson Sison led the opening ceremony and Mohammad Bayoumi, GM of Al-Haddaf Sportsware and Fher Nazer, team owner of Bupa Middle East, graced the ceremony. The awards for the best team in uniform went to Bupa Middle East (Inter Company) and Nissan (Open Non-rated Tropa-tropa) while Al-Murjan and Bupa Middle East (Inter Company) and Erfan Warriors (Open Non-rated Tropa-tropa) claimed the best mascot awards. NCB beat Bupa Middle East 58-44. Alaro and Molina scored 19 and 18 points respectively for the winner. Alaro was adjudged as the Titan best player of the game while Sorra topscored with 11 points for the losers. This tournament is principally sponsored by Titan-Al Hussaini and Yahya Investment Group with co-sponsors Giordano Fashions, ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel, La Paz Batchoy Restaurant & La Paz Bakeshop & Grocery and Al-Haddaf Sports Wear. Nissan defeated Erfan Warriors 77-51. The winner dominated the first quarter. At the start of the second quarter the loser managed to get back but could stop its rival from winning. Garcia led Nissan with 26 points and was adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Jay-R scored 18 points for the loser. In the last game, Al-Zamil defeated Budget Unitrans 71-64. It was an exciting match as the scores kept swinging in the whole game. The winner with its zone defense halted the final assault of the loser in the dying seconds. Orillano scored 17 points for Al-Zamil and was adjudged as the Al-Haddaf best player of the game while Plaza topscored with 18 points for Budget Unitrans. Games will be played every Thursday and Friday from 5:30 P.M. __
