Freezing cold has gripped the Qrayyat governorate with temperature here dipping -4 °C. But the situation on Tuesday was slightly better since last week's lowest ever temperature of -7 °C . The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) expects the cold wave to continue with the possibility of ice formation in late nights and early mornings. The extreme cold conditions have caused water to freeze in metallic reservoirs and external pipes. The PME has called on the people to be careful and follow instructions announced by relevant bodies on cold as to avoid accidents. The Civil Defense has also called on the people to follow safety instructions when using electric, kerosene or coal heaters as to avoid fire and suffocation.
