Dr. Talat Wafa, former editor of Riyadh Daily and advisor to the editor-in chief of Riyadh Arabic daily, died here Monday after a prolonged illness. Born in 1950 in Qassim, he obtained a bachelor's degree in Arabic Language and Education from King Saud University in Riyadh in 1972. In 1977, he got his MA in Educational Psychology from Indiana University in the US and in 1982 he received his Ph.D in Arabic Language from the same university. Dr. Talat Wafa joined King Saud University and taught Arabic language. He held several academic posts and became an Associate Professor. In 1988, Dr. Wafa was appointed as Assistant Secretary General of the World Muslim Youth Assembly (WAMY) for executive affairs and became its Secretary General in 2002. He has to his credit many books in Arabic which are part of the curriculum in intermediate schools in the Kingdom. __
