Sri Lankan expatriates in the Kingdom are glad about the capture of the Tamil Tiger rebels' headquarters Kilinochichi by the Sri Lankan armed forces on Friday. The re-capture of Kilinochichi after 10 years, the Tamil Tiger de facto capital of their mythical Eelam, will be the count down for the eradication of the most ruthless and the most powerful terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in the world. Haari, Sri Lankan expatriate staying in Eastern Province since 20 years and working as sales executive in a advertisement company said, “This is an incomparable victory for the government and armed forces and I appreciate their efforts.” He said, “This victory, I hope will see the end of the harassment and insults showered at the Sri Lankan government and its armed forces by international governments and Human Rights groups who had been throwing support to this internationally recognized cruel terrorist LTTE group. Dinesh, another Sri Lankan expatriate who work in a leading courier service in Dammam commented that “I hope the Sri Lankan government has learnt a painful lesson to solve their national problem guaranteeing equality to all its citizens, Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Malays and other minority groups, and not to invite international fact finding missions who enter to our beautiful island with their hidden agenda” In Sri Lanka troops on Monday captured a part of the highly strategic Elephant Pass, a causeway linking the northern Jaffna peninsula to the mainland, the military said. Military spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara said the southern part of the causeway fell to government troops advancing northwards from Kilinochchi, the political headquarters of the Tamil Tigers, which was captured by the army on Friday. “Troops are now consolidating in the southern part of Elephant Pass,” he said.
