The Cabinet on Monday allowed licensed telecommunications companies operating in the Kingdom to establish either a limited liability or a closed stock single proprietorship company provided that its activity is within the area approved by the Minister of Commerce and Industry. At its meeting here presided over by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Cabinet approved a number of other measures to guarantee the safety when companies and consultative offices are implementing general projects. The new measures mandate, among others, that the authorities concerned set up a mechanism for classifying engineering consultative offices, for the Ministry of Finance to conduct a study on the application of projects management approach and forward its views to the Cabinet, and that ministries of municipal and rural affairs, finance and commerce and industry jointly consider the setting up of quality laboratories in all regions of the Kingdom with the participation of the private sector. The study will then be forwarded to King Abdullah. The Cabinet also authorized Minister of Interior or his deputy to discuss with the Singapore a draft security cooperation arrangement between the two countries, sign it and forward the final version for further authentication. The Cabinet approved an arrangement between the Kingdom and France on cooperation in the field of domestic security and civil defense which was signed in Riyadh last February.
