RIYADH — Alwaleed Philanthropies (AP), chaired by Prince Alwaleed, donated electric generators to Alriyadh village in Al Hassah region, Al-Habbel village in Najran region, and Albahah- Al-Hasat in Al-Riyadh region. The number of homes benefiting from Alwaleed Philanthropies' donation as part of the “Lighting up Towns & Villages” project are: 32 houses for Alriyadh Village; 20 houses for Al-Habbel Village and 23 houses for Albahah- Al-Hasat Village. “Lighting Up Towns & Villages” has resulted in bringing light into people's lives in Saudi Arabia's most remote locations — more than 500 villages, benefiting over 43,786 households and over 213,500 people. The Foundation achieved this by installing electricity power generators that have a 10-year life span in thousands of villagers who benefited from the project. The national power grid does not cover these villages. However, they are listed to be connected with the grid during the lifetime of the generators. Lighting up lives exemplifies one of the basic tenets of Alwaleed Philanthropies': We offer help where it is needed desperately. The Alwaleed Philanthropies are involved in a wide spectrum of humanitarian and philanthropic activities in more than 92 countries. AP supports and initiates projects around the world, regardless of gender, race or religion. The foundation collaborates with a range of philanthropic, government and educational organizations to combat poverty, empower women and the young, develop communities, provide disaster relief and create cultural understanding through education. AP also believes in building bridges for a more compassionate world. — SG
