Malki, the Saudi actor well-known as Manahi, on Saturday visited the King Abdullah Center for Disabled Children. Al-Malki visited all departments in the center to familiarize himself with the means employed to deal with disabled children. “The aim of this visit is to see the level of education that the children are receiving, their lifestyle and even to know how to involve them in the art of painting which is of special interest to me as I attended the auction of their artwork last week,” said Al-Malki. Women, Al-Malki said, have a special role in the care of disabled children. “They are in the forefront of those supporting disabled children and helping them to overcome their disabilities,” he said. The all-women staff at the center, he said, are doing a tremendous job in helping the children. “It is very interesting that Saudi women have started to work in fields like this which are difficult and complicated,” he said. Al-Malki showed keen interest in the “space costume” used at the center. Children wear the costume for six hours a day to help them overcome their disabilities sooner. Stressing the need to give lectures to the families of disabled children, Al-Malki said this will help the families create a congenial atmosphere which will enable them to cope with the demands of children with disabilities. Salwa Al-Muhammadi, the center's acting manager, said special departments host meetings with the families of the disabled children to help them learn how to deal with their children in the right way. Al-Malki visited educational and medical sections, consisting of clinics, advisory unit, physiotherapy and occupational therapy unit, treatment of speech difficulties and dental clinic unit, housing system of child day care, and the section called “you are not alone” that supports the families of the disabled children. Fayez Al-Malki, started his acting career in 1982, and he has several comedy serials to his credit.
