JEDDAH — The Energy Sector Training Board (ESTB) Trustees that held their first meeting in Riyadh hosted by the Saudi Electricity Company formed ESTB's Managing Committee (MC), by electing Saudi Aramco BOT member Eng. Nabil Al-Dabal as its Chairman, and Saudi Electricity Company BOT member Abdulrahman Al Obayed and TVTC BOT members as Vice Chairman and Treasurer of the Board, consecutively.
Saudi Aramco, in collaboration with TVTC and major energy companies, established ESTB at the national level to develop the energy sector business partners' young Saudi workforce. The Board serves as the single platform for collaboration and coordination among the energy sector stakeholders to achieve alignment of strategies and priority setting for the energy sector. The Board will help identify gaps in skill sets in the energy sector and close gaps in the supply and demand of skills.
The partnership is based on TVTC providing infrastructure and funding support while the Energy Sector Companies provide knowledge and experience, and guarantee employment opportunities through sponsorships and good governance to the institutions.
The founding stakeholders of the Board are: Saudi Aramco, Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden), and the Council of Saudi Chambers.
A Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of ESTB was signed by the founding stakeholders during the NITI inauguration in June 2015. The MoU was endorsed by Prince Saud Bin Nayif Al Saud, Governor of Eastern Province, Prince Badr Bin Muhammad Bin Jalawi, Governor of Al-Ahsa, and Khalid Al-Faleh, Minister of Health and Chairman of Saudi Aramco Board of Directors.
Members of ESTB Board of Trustees are:

* Dr. Ali Al Ghafis, Governor, TVTC
* Dr. Mosleh Al Otaibi, CEO, Royal Commission for Jubail
* Nabil Al Dabal, GM, T&D, Saudi Aramco
* Abdulaziz Al Oudan, Executive VP, Corporate HR, SABIC
* Abdullah Al Abdulkarim, Deputy Governor, Planning & Development, SWCC
* Saleh Al Afaleq, Vice Chairman, Council of Saudi Chambers
* Abdulrahman Al Obayed, SVP, HR, SEC
* Fouzi Bubshait, VP, Corporate HR, Ma'aden

Commenting on the Board's meeting, Fuhaid Al Subaii, Director of Business Partners Saudization Department of Saudi Aramco, who has been nominated as the General Secretary of the Managing Committee, said the Board has agreed on a roadmap of its work. The Board approved the formation of two committees to facilitate achieving the approved road map. The first one will be a Technical Committee with a mandate to oversee technical requirements while the second one will be a steering committee which will soon initiate a feasibility study for the establishment of an HRD Center. Once the HRD Center is formally endorsed, it will strategically oversee through its governance all energy sector training institutes and their programs across the kingdom.
