Embassies in the Kingdom will start accepting business electronic powers of attorney starting Jan. 12, a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs carried by SPA said. No paper powers of attorney will be accepted after Jan. 12, the statement added. The law applies to powers of attorney issued by business establishments, not individuals, said Muhammad Al-Saloom, deputy minister for consular affairs. He called on the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry and recruitment offices to apply the new procedures for powers of attorney. The new law has been put into effect to curb previous attempts to forge traditional power of attorney documents. __
