Shammari of Road Security did not expect Wednesday to be his last with his colleague, the martyred Private First Class Milfi Musa'ed Al-Siheimi, whom he saw shot dead with bullets in his head and chest. With three bullets in his chest, 40-year-old Al-Shammari was able to shoot their assailant before fainting near his colleague's body. He was moved to Taima Hospital and then to the Military Hospital in Tabuk where two bullets were extracted Thursday with the third to be removed when his condition becomes stable. Al-Shammari is a father of three – 9-year-old Yasir, 7-year-old Mohammad and 3-year-old Ahmad – and he is an only son who enrolled in Public Security 15 years ago. Al-Shammari who lives in Shnan Governorate – 100 kilometers south of Hail – used to take two 400-kilometer trips every day to and from his work at Al-Jahra Road Security Point. His father, Gthaith, said his son has passed the critical condition and is now in good health, adding that he “did his duty in defending the country.” He said Nawwaf's family was anticipating his transfer to Hail as he is the only provider. Yasir, the injured corporal's son, said his father and his martyr colleague “were brave in deterring criminals.” He said his father called him an hour before the injury and asked him about school and about his brothers. Al-Shammari's uncle, Sabr, said his nephew was pious and known for his good conduct and “what he did was a national duty and it should be taken after,” he said. The two Road Security agents were shot on Wednesday by a suspect in a black SUV that they stopped for an ID and car registration papers at the Al-Jahra Road Security Checkpoint.
