Mohammed Nisaruddin Qureshi JEDDAH — The Riyadh and Jeddah teams of NRI will come face to face in the third Inter-City NRI Champions Trophy here Saturday (Sept. 12). The championship is being organized by GK Sports and NRI Saudi Cricket Forum Jeddah and will be played at Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) grounds under the aegis of Saudi Cricket Center. This tournament is supported by NRI Riyad Forum, IYWA, BIJ, KTT, Twin Cities, Association of Indian Professionals along with many others. A function in honor of the two teams will be held Friday evening at Fine Grill Restaurant in Jeddah. Nadeem Nadwi, CEO of SCC, will be the chief guest on the occasion. Among other prominent personalities attending the event will be: Dr. Syed Ali Mehmood, Syed Khaja Viqaruddin, Syed Akram Mohiuddin, Dr. Gayas, Dr. Sayeed Mohiuddin. The function will also serve second as a curtain raiser for the biggest softball cricket tournament of the Kingdom — The Youm Al-Watani Cup 2015. According to Mohammed Al-Qureshi, President of NRI Saudi Cricket Forum, the tournament will be the third largest inter-city cricket event and is being organized to keep the NRI community closely connected. Dr. Gayas Ahmed Sattar, president of GK International Indian Sports Club Riyadh, said these types of tournaments are important to promote cricket in the Kingdom and to attract young Saudis. The key officials of the Inter-city Match from the host team are: Syed Meer (team manager), Samar Khan, Sameer Khan, Mujamil Riyaz, Wajid Samdani, Jaweed Ahmed, Rafiullah, Wasi Rabbani. Riyadh team comprises Mohammed Kaleem, Aftab Nizami, Javed Ali, Majeed, Mohammed Salahuddin and Abdul Subhan.
