MAKKAH — Experts are predicting more than SR990 million in profits for local Haj companies this year, with pilgrims paying an average of SR5,500 according to the different Haj service levels the Haj Ministry has established, Al-Madina newspaper said. The ministry created three main service levels, with additional sub-sections, with charges ranging from SR8,146 for the top service in the first level down to SR5,893 for the cheapest service in the third level. Experts explained that money paid cover many services provided by Haj companies, such as renting tents at holy sites where grade A tents cost SR,7000. Other services include transportation, catering and accommodation. Former president of the National Committee for Haj and Umrah, Saad Jamil Al-Qurashi, said that local Haj companies make little profit providing multiple services to pilgrims.
