Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) reported it has covered 51,600 cases of work injuries during the past 11 months, Al-Hayat reported. GOSI's official spokesman Abdullah Al-Abduljabar said the organization also compensates the injured client for every day he misses work by 100 percent of his salary. “The client and a family member get financially compensated on transportation from home to the location of treatment. If the client needed a room in the hospital for treatment, the organization covers the expenses as well,” said Al-Abduljabar. He added the organization also offers financial aid to clients who sustain a disability as a result of work injury. “If the disability was below 50 percent of a healthy person, the organization compensates in installments. If the disability was over 50 percent, the organization enrolls the victims under the monthly welfare program,” said Al-Abduljabar. He added the work injuries insurance applies to all employees of the private sector, Saudis and non-Saudis. “It is an injury sustained during work hours at the workplace or while commuting to and from the workplace. Work injuries are also injuries sustained while performing any task or work whether it was done during work hours or outside of them,” said Al-Abduljabar. The official added that the organization has an agreement with a number of hospitals in the Kingdom.
