Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — For the sixth consecutive year, Kingdom-based Maulana Hifzur Rehman Seoharvi Academy and Haji Muhammad Ayoob Welfare Organization will be distributing gifts among the pilgrims this Haj. Bhajat Ayoob Zinjani (Najmi), the brain behind this noble task, said in a press statement that about half of the 12,000 prayer mats, 10,000 perfume bottles and souvenirs containing verses from the Holy Qur'an and other supplications will be given to pilgrims from India. The other half will be distributed among pilgrims from other countries. Both these organizations have also distributed gifts among Umrah pilgrims during Ramadan. They also distributed Ramadan packets to 50 needy families in Jeddah. These packets contained foodstuffs enough for a small family for a month. Maulana Seoharvi is a prominent name on the religio-political horizon of the Asian subcontinent. He was a freedom fighter, Islamic scholar, a historian, a prolific writer and a religious and political leader of repute commanding respect from all. He fought against British rule for a quarter century (1922-1947) and spent eight years in jail. Maulana Seoharvi was known for his prolific writing through which he primarily aimed to reform the Muslim society by inculcating the values and ethics of Islam inspired by the Qur'an and Hadith. Haji Muhammad Ayoob, another champion of Muslims causes and noted figure among Indian Muslims, was a son-in-law of Maulana Seoharvi.
