JEDDAH — Residents of the city were disappointed with the postponement of “Jeddah Live” on Snapchat after they had waited for it for a long time.
Snapchat had announced that they would create “Jeddah Live” for residents of the city on Monday and it would go live the next day. According the announcement, users would be able to broadcast selected videos and photos of Jeddah city for 24 hours to millions around the world.
On Tuesday, the day it was supposed to go live, they announced they had postponed the project without giving a valid reason.
Twitter users expressed their anger and disappointment by creating hashtags in Arabic and English. A user on Twitter tagged Snapchat's Twitter account saying, “I'm really disappointed by you guys for saying that you are going to show #jeddah_live and you didn't.”
Another Female user tagged Twitter account, asking it for a clear explanation for what happened to “Jeddah Live” since she and her Snapchatter friends needed a clear answer.
She said Snapchat lied to people and turned Jeddah Live into a big lie. “I was so excited for the #jeddah_live story on Snapchat. I'm sure all the Jeddah people were. Why did you have to do this @Snapchat?” a male user asked.
Some Twitter users were happy for this postponement. “I am so glad Jeddah Live did not make it on Snapchat. It made my day,” a Saudi female tweeted.
On Ramadan 27, Snapchat broadcasted “Makkah Live” and before that :Riyadh Live”. Both of them were very popular and had high watching rates.
