Faris Al-Qahtani Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the process of recruiting housemaids. Ministry of Labor spokesman Tayseer Al-Mufrij said the two ministries plan to look into the obstacles hindering the recruitment process. “The Ministry of Labor prioritizes the rights of citizens and respects the rights of all parties involved in the recruitment of expatriates,” said Al-Mufrij. The Ministry of Labor does not intend to compromise on the skills of housemaids but it does intend to tackle the obstacles impeding the recruitment process, he said. The Ministry of Labor has regulated recruitment expenses, reviewed the role of recruitment companies and offices and run inspection and supervision campaigns for recruitment offices abroad, he added. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labor has said that it does not allow companies to transfer sponsorship of expatriates more than once. A source from the ministry said establishments can apply for the transference of expatriate employees online. “It takes three months to complete the transfer process from the date the employer applies. Applicants can also cancel a transfer request,” said the source.
