‘India's risk of adopting anti-secularism' (Aug. 5)
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 15 - 08 - 2015

Indian Muslims live for India; they won't let their homeland down. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going all out for India's progress, development and safety.
The recent funeral of APJ Abdul Kalam showed how the Indian government respects minority groups. Indian Muslims feel safer in India than in any Muslim country.
Deepak Natarajan
Deepak Natarajan, could you please list what kind of progress is taking place in our country. After Modi became prime minister, saffron terrorists got wings to fly.
When innocent Muslims were killed by Shiva Sena, our prime minister was busy making world tours. I am asking what kind of progress you are talking about?
Abdul Rahman Maqsood
Hindus have always tried to destroy minority groups - Muslims, Sikhs and Christians. And minority groups have always tried to prove that they are patriotic Indians.
However, unfortunately, members of minority groups, especially Muslims, are treated like traitors and enemies.
Bilal Ayub Butt
Yes, now the situation in India has changed. The Indian government is targeting Muslim minorities and the discrimination between Hindus and Muslim has become clear in the last few years.
The hanging of Yakub Memon will not shake the faith of Indian Muslims in the country's judiciary and democratic values.
That was already taken care of when Afzal Guru was sent to the gallows to satisfy the “collective conscience” of society.
When the killers of Ishrat Jehan, Ahsan Jafri Kausar Bi, Sadiq Sheikh, Sohrauddin and countless others were not just let off the hook but were also awarded plum promotions.
When Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Vanzara, PP Pandey, etc. were given “clean chits” despite damning evidence. When the bloodthirsty PAC cops who murdered 43 Muslim youths in Hashimpura were acquitted by the court.
When Shiv Sena thugs who were named and shamed in the Srikrishna report for raping and killing hundreds of Muslims during the 1993 Mumbai riots were never brought to book and their leader was instead given a state funeral when he died a natural death.
Mohammad Bilal Ansari
There is a terrible reason behind minorities, especially Muslims, being targeted in India and in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
Hindus lived in the Indian subcontinent under the rule of various Muslim empires. Owing to their conspiratorial maneuvers against Muslim rule in the subcontinent, Hindus suffered extreme setbacks and were defeated by the Muslim armies during the 1,000 year span of Muslim rule.
For this reason, the Indian regime does not play fair with those issues involving Muslims. Overwhelmed with fear of Islam and jihad, India has been engaging in terror campaigns against Muslims in India and in Jammu and Kashmir.
Arum Zinia
No you cannot say this. The entire country is not made up of like-minded people. We have all the freedom provided by our country. It is our country, too.
India does not belong to any particular religion. Some politicians play the vote bank game, we all know that that is true. However, the educated population of India is extremely understanding.
They all want peace, tranquility and development irrespective of religion. I have always believed and said that one fine day, India will be the best in the world.
Mohd Imran
