Kind Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has approved the decisions adopted recently by the Higher Education Council. Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Al-Anqari said that the decisions included revision of some systems of the teachers' colleges and girls' colleges affiliated with universities in a manner that serves male and female students and meets the requirements of the labor market for various specializations including health, engineering and computer sciences, as well as educational sciences and languages and translation. Moreover, the revision of the systems will meet the leadership's stand to spread the institutions of higher education in the Kingdom. The decisions also included turning Al-Yamamah college into a university under the name of Al-Yamamah Private University in Riyadh as well as the establishment of three new colleges. Anqari said the King has approved the decisions of the Council pertaining to the establishment of several departments at the Islamic University, King Abdulaziz University, and King Khalid University. The minister pointed out that the approved decisions included the establishment of some deanships and research centers like the Institute of Development and Consultation Services at Noura Bint Abdulrahman University. He added that the decisions included establishment of two deanships at King Saud Bin Abdul Aziz University for Health Sciences. Muhammad Ali Al-Auhali, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Higher Education, said the restructuring would be carried out from the next semester. He said the restructuring includes closure of some sections in the various universities and creation of new departments besides changing the names of some sections to cope with the requirements of the labor market. Al-Auhali said the decisions adopted by the Higher Education Council included creation of 100 new colleges to meet the needs of the labor market.
